The recap

Self-belief comes to Gqeberha

The fourth stop of Lihle's 100K Teens Self-Belief Conference brought learners from across Gqeberha together at Ndzondelelo High School in Zwide on 9 October 2026. Following conferences in Mthatha, East London and Cell C in Buccleuch, the growing movement arrived with one clear message: deepen your self-belief, dream bigger, work hardest, persevere, succeed — and protect your self-belief.

Every learner received a copy of Lihle's Collection of Motivational Quotes for Teens, with more than 300 motivational quotes, together with BhasweLihle's Guide to Navigating Success for Teens — practical resources to carry the message beyond the day.

BhasweLihle's self-belief injection reminded learners that where they come from does not limit where they can go, and walked them through her Guide to Navigating Success for Teens.

The day featured speakers whose journeys made excellence feel within reach:

Jos Maroba, one of the first few Black actuaries in South Africa, shared how education helped him overcome poverty and opened an international career spanning South Africa and Germany.

Sesona Masingili, from Soqhayisa High School's Class of 2025, achieved a 94.3% average, seven distinctions and 100% in Accounting. Now a first-year student at the University of Pretoria, Sesona shared the discipline behind exceptional academic achievement.

Obuhle Manga, from Ethembeni Enrichment High School's Class of 2025, achieved seven distinctions and is now a first-year student at the University of Cape Town. Obuhle spoke about the mindset required for academic excellence and purposeful progress.

The programme was directed by Olwethu Nodada, with a welcome from the host school's Mr Thamsanqa Nkonki and closing remarks from the Department of Education.

Gqeberha carried the movement further down the Eastern Cape coast — part of a continental challenge to motivate and inspire 100 000 teenagers across Africa.
